Sound Art Project
For this project, my group had Will, Brian, and Angel. The story behind our project is the journey of a plate through a restaurant. Most of the sounds for this project were made by ourselves, with little artificial help. For help with sounds, there were plenty of free to use sounds on YouTube, and on the WeVideo website. The planning process was simple, as all that was needed was a story board which was easy to make. The board detailed different sounds that were needed and the spots they would fit in, with some additions along the way. There no major changes throughout the process, only one or 2 small fixes to sound placement and use. There were no difficulties because as i previously said, most of the sounds were made by us so they were easy to access and use. Having worked in a restaurant before, although brief, I had some knowledge of what goes on in the kitchen which helped massively with the beginning and end of the project. An inspiration I had for this idea was the Ratatouille movie, which opens with a scene very similar to the one we made. The idea for this was to mimic this scene and to be able to imagine it without video. It follows a similar formula, with a look through the busy kitchen in contrast to the peaceful and calm dining room.
Here are some examples of the group making the Foley sounds for the movie.
Brian used this simple method to mimic a knife on a cutting board, used while touring through the kitchen.
Another instance of the Foley sounds being made are by me picking up and putting down plates. This sound i used in several instances throughout the project, making it vital.
